The Ashley Montagu Resolution and Petition needs your support, please go there and be counted.  Stand up for the rights of children.  If you are intact or sexually mutilated, man or woman makes no difference you owe it to the future generations to defend those to young or weak to say NO. 

What are we about?

Millions of children are sexually mutilated each and every year by adults who give those children no choice.  These adults hold down the child and amputate a highly sensitive and functional part of the sex organ.  This happens to both males and females and it can be done by anyone to any child.  Some are mutilated in the home others in hospital or even in barbers shops.  A twelve year old child can scream in protest to no avail as the adults cut away as much flesh as they want.  There are many countries that have laws to protect girls but take little action to make those laws effective by enforcement.  There is at present not a single country in the world that protects boys with the exception of Sweden who has made a half hearted attempt.

The polite term used by medical and religious people relating to boys is 'circumcision', in reality it is Male Genital Mutilation (MGM) or more appropriately Male Sexual Mutilation (MSM).  Even those so called circumcisions done for medical reasons are done without justification.  Of all the circumcisions done for medical reasons over 98% could have been treated by conservative non invasive methods and with less cost.

There are many reasons why this mutilation should be outlawed as there are no valid health reasons for doing it and it is a violation of basic human rights not only of the child but the adult the child will become.  Of even more concern is the danger to health as there have always been deaths due to it together with an even greater number of complications ranging from partial to complete loss of the sex organ.  All those that have been mutilated have their lives changed by it, some object to this, some are unaware of how it affects them and others are quite happy with their sexual modification.  One fundamental point is of 'CHOICE', only the owner of the body has the right to consent provided all the facts are known and the person giving that consent is also an adult.  No mother, father, guardian or religious leader has the right to sexually mutilate a child.  Even a health professional (doctor, nurse or surgeon) has no right to cut the sex organ of a child unless for STRICT medical necessity.

This barbaric practice must be stopped and those that perpetrate this hideous perversion must be subject to public outcry and legal punishment for causing actual bodily harm, wounding and sexual abuse.

SMC  will do all that it can to bring this barbaric practice to a halt and needs your support to do it.
